In theory, research and teaching form one unit; in practice, it is a great challenge to link the two.
"Research-based teaching and learning" (RBTL) is a concept that allows students to go through the entire research cycle based on a research question: from choosing a topic, developing a research question, selecting methods, developing a research design to conducting, evaluating and reflecting on and presenting the results.
With RBTL you can let your students work on their questions as well as your own.
At the same time, students learn to research and explore their learning. In addition, instilling an attitude of inquiry, confidence in scientific scepticism, and continuous questioning is essential in the face of an increasing confusion of everyday life and science.
Learning Goals
After the course, participants will have
- further developed their own course using the concept of "research-based teaching and learning" (RBTL),
- reflected on different methods of linking research and teaching,
- developed work and social form so that students can "research" or pursue questions as independently as possible,
- developed concrete ideas on how to accompany students in their learning.
MethodsThe participants further develop their own course through inputs, theory, practical examples, discussions, exercises, reflections, feedback, presentations and much more.
